How Benrfol came to be — and what it is actually for

"Color is the first thing people react to and the last thing most designers study with any rigor."

Benrfol started in 2023 with one observation: most designers pick up color habits informally, from tools, trends, and peer feedback. The gap between intuitive color use and systematic color knowledge is real and wide. That gap causes friction in client work, inconsistency across brand systems, and a general sense that color decisions are subjective when they do not have to be.

We built a curriculum to close that gap directly.

The platform covers color science, perceptual psychology, digital and print color spaces, palette construction, contrast mechanics, and cultural color interpretation. Each module connects theory to practical output — screen mockups, brand guides, environmental signage, and UI components. Lessons are asynchronous and self-paced, but the structure is deliberate. You work through topics in a sequence that builds understanding rather than jumping between isolated techniques.

We operate fully remotely and serve learners from Kyiv to Nairobi to São Paulo. The course content is in English and designed for intermediate-level designers who already know their tools but want to make better decisions with them. Results depend on effort and practice — we provide the framework, not the shortcut.

The people behind the curriculum

Four specialists with different backgrounds, one shared focus on how color works in professional design.

Iryna Koval, Lead Instructor for Color Systems at Benrfol

Iryna Koval

Lead Instructor — Color Systems

Iryna spent eight years working across brand identity and environmental graphics before moving into education. She develops the core color theory modules and oversees how scientific principles are translated into actionable design decisions. Her teaching style is precise and example-driven.

Dmytro Onyshchenko, Head of Curriculum at Benrfol

Dmytro Onyshchenko

Head of Curriculum

Dmytro structures how the course content is organized and sequenced. He comes from an instructional design background and has worked with university programs in Ukraine and Poland. His role is to ensure that learning objectives connect logically from one module to the next, not just in content but in cognitive load.
